Comparison table
| Tool | Cost | Base container | Upgraded | Width |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toothbrush | Free | 0.5 kg | 1 kg (one container upgrade) | Narrowest tool in the game |
| Nail Brush | $5 | ≈ 0.75–0.8 kg | Upgradeable (container upgrade $8) | ≈ 6.9 cm wider than the toothbrush |
| Hand Brush | $10 | 1 kg | 2 kg after the $10 container upgrade | ≈ 24.6 cm |
| Household Broom | $25 | 3 kg | 6 kg ($30) → 12 kg | ≈ 43.9 cm (about 22 cm wider than the Hand Brush) |
| Wide Broom | $75 | 6 kg | 12 kg → 24 kg | Roughly double the Household Broom |
| Extra Wide Broom | $150 | 12 kg | ≈ 110 kg fully upgraded (with Dust Compactor) | ≈ 98.8 cm (+32 cm over the Wide Broom) |
Base dust sells for about $1 per kilogram before economy upgrades, so a tool's container size is literally its payout per trip. That is why container upgrades feel so strong early: doubling a 1 kg brush to 2 kg doubles your hourly income for $10.
Best purchase order
- Nail Brush ($5) with your first five dollars.
- Hand Brush ($10), then its $10 container upgrade (1 → 2 kg).
- Household Broom ($25), then its $30 upgrade (3 → 6 kg).
- Tool Belt Slot 2 ($15) and the Building Tool ($50) when you want your first Packager.
- Wide Broom ($75) and its first upgrade (6 → 12 kg).
- Extra Wide Broom ($150), then the $60 upgrade to 24 kg and Tool Belt Slot 3 ($60).
- Economy upgrades take over from here — see the Upgrade Matrix.

Tool belt & multi-tool carrying
Every tool keeps its own dust container even when it is holstered. With a second and third tool belt slot you can fill your main broom, switch to an older broom, fill that, and still pick up one packed capsule in your hand. On a typical mid-early setup that turns a 12 kg trip into a 25–37 kg trip with no extra purchases. It is fiddly — you place capsules and switch tools constantly — but it roughly doubles income in the phase before Packagers.
Container upgrade or new tool?
The first container level on any tool is almost always worth it because it doubles income for a small price. The second and later levels climb steeply in cost. Once the next level costs more than half of the next tool, buy the next tool instead — it improves capacity and width. The exception is the Extra Wide Broom: it is the last broom, so every level is worth buying eventually, and the Dust Compactor adds +15% on top.
