Stations

Stations are the Lunar Surface Division's outposts. You start in one, but there are twelve on the moon, and each one you discover becomes a place to sell, upgrade, check the map and teleport to.

Inside a station

  • Supply wall — buy and swap tools (Toothbrush through Extra Wide Broom, Building Tool).
  • Dust depot — deposit with E, then Sell Dust to launch the container.
  • Upgrade Matrix — all 52 tool and suit upgrades. Identical in every station.
  • Moon map — progress heat map, flags, sites, stations and waypoints.
  • Break room — coffee machine, chess, air hockey and a whiteboard you can draw on.
  • Intakes — conveyor holes around the outside walls; capsules that reach them sell.

The station network

The moon map lists 12 stations. You start at North Station — the "N Station" label on the wall gives it away — sitting at the north pole. From there it is roughly 3,000 m to the equator. West, East and South stations are the first ones most players find; South Station sits at the south pole. Each discovered station counts as a checkpoint toward full completion.

When you travel far enough from your current base, the HUD switches to pointing at the nearest other station, so wandering is safe.

The moon map

  • Zoom and rotate the whole sphere. Cleaned areas show as a heat map.
  • Counters: hexes cleaned and partly cleaned, percentage of the moon, flags found out of 195, sites surveyed out of 26, stations.
  • Found flags and sites are marked, which is how you spot gaps during the flag hunt.
  • Set up to 12 waypoints; they show on your HUD in the field.
  • Unclean hexes are marked late in the game so you can track down the last stragglers.
Tip

Teleporting

On the moon map, right-click any discovered station and choose teleport. It costs $50. Your vehicle stays behind, but you can recall vehicles to a Garage. Pre-release builds let you teleport freely back to base; the release version only allows station-to-station teleports.

Building around other stations

Every station has its own intakes, so you can build factories, Packagers and catchers around any of them. JONAS robots fire at the nearest emptiest catcher anywhere on the moon, so catchers at outer stations shorten rocket flights for robots working far from home.
