Mega Vacuum Rover
Last verified: November 2026 · Steam release build
Overview
The Mega Vacuum Rover is the top vehicle. Its 4 m intake and multi-thousand-kilo tank let you clear dozens of hexes per trip, and it is the vehicle that funds your first JONAS robots. Turn the suction on after getting in — it is off by default.
Scroll to change suction mode. Higher suction widens the cleaning strip but caps your top speed: with Suction Control maxed (+75% width) you still move at around 21–23 km/h, which is a great trade. Normal suction is best for driving out to a new area; high or max suction for the actual lanes.
Recommended upgrade order
Upgrades are bought per vehicle in the Garage.
- Tuned Motors — speed is the limiting factor once suction is up.
- Suction Control (all levels) — each level adds width; level 3 is about +75%.
- Cruise Control — hands-free lanes thousands of metres long.
- Turbo Kit — faster boost back to the garage.
- Quick Release — shorter unload stops.
- Bigger Hopper — only once you regularly fill the tank before turning around.
Lane strategy
Drive extremely long straight lanes — 1,000 to 2,000 m — then turn and come back alongside. This clears huge swaths with almost no turning time. Set cruise control and steer only to stay parallel with the previous lane.
Garage upgrades
Every vehicle has its own upgrade track in the Garage. Upgrades do not carry over when you buy a bigger vehicle, so only invest heavily in the one you will keep.
| Upgrade | Effect |
|---|---|
| Tuned Motors | Retuned wheels: higher top speed and faster acceleration. |
| Big Hopper / Bigger Hopper | Increases dust tank size (the Mega Vacuum Rover gains about +30% per step). |
| Turbo Kit | Stronger boost (Shift) — around 150% of cruising speed. |
| Cruise Control | Press C to hold your speed without holding W. Essential for long lanes. |
| Suction Control | Unlocks higher suction settings: a wider cleaning strip at the cost of top speed. |
| Lights / Floodlights | Brighter headlights (L) for the long lunar night. |
| Quick Release | Unloads the hopper faster when you park at the garage chute. |
Tips
- Turn suction on after entering; the vehicle starts with it off.
- Before you leave, make sure your factory has an overflow line — one tank can be several thousand kilos and will clog a small line.
- Avoid crater rims at full boost; the rover will go flying and can run you over when you bail out.
