Stone Press

Combines 1 kg dust and 1 kg sand into 2 kg of moonstone worth about seven times raw dust.

Overview

The Stone Press is the top of the production chain. It takes dust and sand through two specific inputs and outputs stone blocks. With all economy upgrades bought, every kilo of dust that goes through the chain ends up worth around $9 instead of $1.

Each press needs both a sand supply and a raw dust supply, which is why the classic line splits incoming dust: part goes into a Pressure Chamber to become sand, part goes straight into the press. One chamber's sand comfortably supports two presses, and the press is the slower machine, so expect to build more presses than chambers.

Why the ratio is 2 presses per chamber

A press uses 1 kg of sand for every 2 kg of stone. A Pressure Chamber outputs up to 5 kg of sand per 12 s, which is more than one press consumes, so a second press keeps the chamber's output from piling up. Large factory builds push this to 2.5–3 presses per chamber when their dust supply is steady.

Tips

  • Double-check which input is dust and which is sand before placing — they are not interchangeable.
  • Mid-game the press is your money engine; end-game, raw dust volume makes it optional.
